Welcome

Welcome to Carrie Dennis Counseling Center. We specialize in providing child play therapy, adolescent, individual, couples, and family counseling in Clark County, Ohio, offering a safe, supportive environment for children and families to thrive.

You have already completed the most important step—you have set aside some of your time and your income to invest in yourself, your family or your marriage.

Counseling is a process. It generally takes you a while to get where you are today, which means quick fixes will not usually get you what you need or want.

Here is what you can expect.

The process begins with an assessment at your first appointment.  You may be asked to complete one or more questionnaires to enhance the assessment process.

After this information is collected, we will spend time evaluating it and developing a goal sheet where we outline your strengths and areas where growth and change are needed.

This is where counseling begins! We will decide together how to proceed.

Our Services

  • Child's hand pointing at orange dinosaur toy in a children's sandbox with small toys including a house, horse, tree, ball, and person figure.

    Child Play Therapy

Play therapy helps children ages 3–12 express their feelings in a natural way—through play. Since children can’t always put their emotions into words, toys become their “language.” By acting things out, children can safely explore worries, fears, and big feelings, helping them heal and learn new ways to cope.

Play therapists are specially trained to understand child development and use play to support emotional growth. They offer a variety of toys so each child can express themselves in the way that feels most comfortable.

There are different types of child play therapy, and some even involve parents to help strengthen communication and connection at home.

    Art therapy

Art therapy gives adolescents a creative outlet to process emotions and build confidence through creating.

Art therapy is a form of counseling that uses creativity—such as drawing, painting, needle felting or working with clay—to help teens express thoughts and feelings they may not have words for. It offers a safe, calm space where adolescents can explore emotions, build confidence, reduce stress, and work through challenges. The focus isn’t on being “good” at art; it’s about using creative expression to support emotional growth, self-awareness, and healthy coping skills.

    Individual and Couples Counseling

Some of the most common disorders we treat are depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, grief, boundary issues, codependency, and relationship problems. With decades of experience providing therapy for individuals dealing with these issues, we know how to work with you to help you down the path to healing.
